The Organ in the 1970s
This photograph was taken in the late 1970s, when the Organ was little more than a shell comprising
its case and the large, difficult-to-remove 32ft case pipes. The Great arch and the console area were
boarded up, as most of the movable parts had been taken to the Petersfield factory of Henry Willis and Sons.
This was fortunate as practically everything seen in this photograph, save for the brick walls of the hall, was lost in the fire.
